We saw you last Friday night at Crabby Joe's & we talked with Eric and told him much we enjoyed your music and how good we thought you were. Tried to enter a booking inquiry but couldn't get it to take, so sending this. Would you ever do smaller private parties? If we could afford you, would love to have you play for 3-4 hrs at a party we are planning on Friday Nov 12 here in Powell at a banquet hall. We do have two friends who are bar owners who'll be there, who book music quite often for their bars in this area. You might even pick up another gig from one or both of them, again, of course, depending on what you charge. Caught you guys on Saturday night at BOOMERS, sounded great as always, but I noticed you kind of slowed things down a bit and didn't bother with all the backing vocals. Is that because you were playing to the older demographic represented in the room, or because you yourselves are getting that much older? We had young people at our table. Did you notice? BOE Reply: Toots, Nice to hear from you again and glad you got out to see us last Saturday. Actually, what you heard on Saturday was, with the exception of a few added tunes was the same thing you heard last year at Boomers. The same backing vocals, the same arrangements,(possibly with some artistic license), and the same tempos as near as we can tell at our acknowleged advanced age. We don't intentionaly tailor our set to any particular demographic. It's been our experience that if we just "do what we do", we can appeal to both younger and older folks. Although, as you've made clear; maybe not all folks. I spoke to several young folks the other night and all seemed to be enjoying. In the words of Ricky Nelson: "You can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself." Thanks for coming out and thanks for your comments. Smitty

Great show at Phil's... as usual! Wish I could have caught more of it but had to swap on and off babysitting duties with Liz. It's great being able to walk to the show and even hear you from our front porch. (Play at Phil's more!!!) I had a question for you guys. A friend at Phil's that night told me this was your 28th year playing Phil's and that you play Phil's twice every year. (I thought that sounded about right.) Then, he said that it's always been on the same month & day every year for those 28 years. Is that right? Just some BOE "trivia/history" I was curious about. Hey, I am ready to audition as the "current" base player. I have all the moves down. Is it important to be able to actually play any notes? It should only take me a short time to be ready... about 20 years or so. Reply: Ed, Auditions are now being held. Of course, having "all the moves" is most important. You will be required to play notes, however, new standards are now in place where playing the correct note is optional. 20 years is our typical break-in period and will be strictly adhered to.
